Guitar and Vocal Performance

The guitar is very accommodating for melomanes, meaning people who have passion for music. They can be compared to singing birds. Don’t all birds sing? Interesting food for thoughts. A guitarist is generally a singer as well. Towards the second half of the 20th Century to date, many songs were made famous by singing guitarists. And of course the small ensembles or bands are made of 2 or 3 guitars with different harmonic input.

The guitar is used in different harmonic settings. From bottom to top in the range of sounds, the standard bass guitar has 4 strings. Then the standard guitar has 6 strings. The six strings of the regular guitar are from high to low, to be more precise from right to left. The last 4 strings of the standard guitar are the same as the bass guitar. However, the 4 strings of the bass guitar are one octave lower than their counterpart.

Guitar and the voice perfect together

The guitar is a solo and accompaniment instrument. This instrument can be performed as a melodic instrument, generally known as the lead guitar just like the violin – another versatile string instrument. The guitar is also known as a classic instrument because a skill musician can perform very difficult pieces that extent the boundaries of its range.

The guitar can accommodate, blend, and play along with any vocal range, thus one of the reason of its popularity in most social venues. Namely, courtship, concerts, parties, music bands and ensembles. The progressions range from easy to very complex finger positions know as barre/bar chords, where 1 finger is pressed against multiple chords at once. Any chord progression can be transposed by a skillful player.
